Webinar Series

Training Dates coming up in December.

Contact us for more information.

This webinar is aimed at supporting individuals who work closely with veteran clients, and is associated with the Veteran's Training Transition Centre. The VTTC aims to equip practitioners with the skills and knowledge necessary to feel competent in working with veteran clients. There are three areas that we wish to support:

Basic Active Listening Skills

It is important to establish a strong rapport with veteran clients; consequently, active listening and how to give feedback to individuals will be instrumental in establishing a strong therapeutic alliance.

The Life Review

Soliciting narratives or stories can often help individuals relieve distressing symptoms, particularly when they feel heard, non-judged and acknowledged. This training enables participants to help others, including veterans, generate personal life histories in order to understand ways to better chart their futures.

Self-Regulation / Coping Strategies

Given that some veteran stories may pertain to trauma and/or trauma-related injuries, it is important to prevent secondary trauma and to promote resilience of the practitioner. These strategies include ways to stay attuned with oneself to become a more effective helper.
